Harrington, DE — I Like My Boss ($2.80, Jon Roberts) kept his impressive unbeaten record intact Wednesday with a track record setting performance, winning in 1:57 at Harrington Raceway.
Owned by trainer Bob Shahan, Jimmy Parsons Jr. and Ashley Parsons, the 3-year-old Don Boss Vita gelding improved to 13-for-13 in his career.
He had not raced since his dazzling track record performance (1:57.2) in the $100,000 Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) final on July 24, and Wednesday’s race was his first test versus older horses.
I Like My Boss, sent off as the 2-5 favorite, relinquished control of the mile early to second choice Abbi’s Gabbi, who set fractions of 29.2, 59.2, and 1:29.1. Roberts edged I Like My Boss to the outside at the top of the stretch and went by willingly for his 13th consecutive win. The win also established a new track record, breaking his own mark.
Driver/trainer Vince Copeland had a double and won the overnight feature with trotter Cash On Delivery in 1:55.3. Victor Kirby also had a driving double
