Icanflylikeanangel outduels Perlucky, repeats in Meadows top trot

Washington, PA – Icanflylikeanangel held off a determined challenge from Perlucky to notch his second straight victory in Friday’s (June 3) $16,000 Open Handicap Trot at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.

Icanflylikeanangel picked up his second consecutive victory with a narrow victory over Perlucky this afternoon at the Meadows. Chris Gooden photo.

Icanflylikeanangel enjoyed a :29 second-quarter breather on top but soon had to deal with the uncovered bid of Perlucky. The two dueled for more than a quarter mile, but the 8-year-old Archangel-Fox Valley London gelding hung tough for Mike Wilder and edged Perlucky by a head in 1:53.2. Donatover shot the Lightning Lane for show.

Randy Bendis trains the winner, who lifted his lifetime bankroll to $591,447, and owns with Pollack Racing LLC.

Dave Palone piloted four winners and Hunter Myers three on the 12-race card.

Live racing at The Meadows continues Saturday (June 4) when the program features a pair of stakes for 3-year-old colt and gelding trotters: a $133,106 Pennsylvania Sires Stake and a $60,000 PA Stallion Series event. On the wagering front, the card offers two carryovers: $11,364.12 in the Jackpot Pick-5 (race 4), $709.23 in the final-race Super Hi-5. First post is 12:45 p.m.
