Idao de Tillard wins Prix de France

Paris — Idao de Tillard, with Clement Duvaldestin in the bike, stamped himself as a champion, winning the prestigious Prix de France at Vincennes in a new race record of 1:51.3 (mile rate).

Idao de Tillard won by two lengths over Go on Boy (driven by Romain Derieux) and last year’s winner of the race, Ampia Mede SM (Franck Nivard).

The 6-year-old is just the fourth trotter in this century to sweep the Prix d’Amérique and Prix de France.

Swedish mare Joviality, driven by Benjamin Rochard, opened the race with a :25.1 first quarter but faded around the last corner and finished last.

The purse for the winner was €180,000.
