In Italian, Instagram Model, Ruth Honig take NYSS splits at Vernon

Vernon, NY — Vernon Downs played host to three divisions of the New York Sire Stakes (NYSS) for 2-year-old trotting fillies on Friday (August 19).

In Italian (Jordan Stratton) won the $35,900 first division.

Mari (Jack Killeen) was first to the quarter in :28.1.  In Italian (Chapter Seven-Hemi Blue Chip) went to the front going around the turn.  The lead was short lived as Royal Filly (Brian Sears) went to the lead as the reached the top of the back stretch.  She was first to the half in :59.1 and first to three-quarters in 1:27.2.

As they reached the stretch In Italian popped the pocket and went for the lead.  Royal Filly went off the course in deep stretch and In Italian held off a late charge from second place finisher Pride N Joy (Andrew McCarthy) to get her first career win in 1:55.1.  Mari finished third.

In Italian is a filly by Chapter Seven-Hemi Blue Chip.  She is owned by Bradley Grant and Howard Taylor while trained by Ron Burke.

Instagram Model (Andrew McCarthy) cruised to win in the $35,900 second division.

Woolco (Tyler Buter) leads to the first quarter in :27.3.  Instagram Model (Chapter Seven-Check Out Trixie) took over as they headed for the backstretch.  She was first to the half in :58.3.  She breezed to three-quarters in 1:27.4.

As they made the turn for home Instagram Model had plenty in the tank and won in 1:55.4.  Woolco held on for second.  Unicorn Blue Chip (Brian Sears) finished third.

Instagram Model is a filly by Chapter Seven-Check Out Trixie.  She is owned by R Lynn Curry and trained by Annie Stoebe.  She now has three wins in four lifetime starts.

Ruth Honig (Tyler Buter) took the $35,900 third division.

Ruth Honig (Chapter Seven-Lady Grey) led to the quarter in :28.2.  She used a :30.3 second quarter to be first to the half in :59.  Kayleigh S (Brian Sears) came first-up to challenge going around the final turn.  Ruth Honig led to three-quarters in 1:28.

As they made the turn for home Ruth Honig found another gear and won easily in a lifetime best of 1:56.3.  Midwind Success (Jordan Stratton) came up to finish second.  Jeans Action (Andrew McCarthy) was third best.

Ruth Honig is a filly by Chapter Seven-Lady Grey.  She is owned by the Shermay Stables and trained by Lucas Wallin.  She now has three lifetime wins.
