Inaugural Winners Circle Speed Sale hosted in Michigan

Fowlerville, MI — The inaugural Winners Circle Speed Sale was hosted on Thursday (Sept. 29) afternoon at the Fowlerville Michigan Fairgrounds. 64 horses went up for auction and the sale was highlighted by the spirited sale of 41 Michigan Bred Yearlings sold for $14,119 average.

This summer Michigan horsemen enjoyed a robust purse structure to both the Michigan Sired and Michigan Bred Stakes programs and with similar programs expected in 2023 business was brisk. Topping the sale was Nordicsfinallegacy a son of Keystone Nordic from the Manofmanymissions mare Wicked Woman. Harley Byler consigned the colt which Tom and Sally Wordsworth purchased for $32,000.

First crop pacing sire Bondi Hanover (Somebeachsomewhere-Bunny Lake) was met with much excitement. His sons Deciding Factor and Polka Joe led sales for pacing colts with top bids of $27,000 and $20,000 respectively.

Mach Three son Megatron, who stands at Snow Ridge Farm with Bondi Hanover, led the way with pacing fillies selling fillies for $25,000 (B Happy), $24,000 (Fancywontletyadown) and $22,000 (Derby Doll).

Trotting Colts were in high demand and garnered much attention. Majestic Marco (Keystone Nordic-Marcata Hanover) $25,000, Spring Hill Yankee (Crest-Yankee Goldrush) $24,000, GL MR K (Southwind Eilian-El’s Mistress Chelsea) $24,000, NS Special K (Sebastian K-Onyx Blue Chip) $21,000. The top trotting fillies sold were Wally’s Queen (Rompaway Wally-Pixel Queen) who fetched a top bid of $22,000 and Nervous Nancy (Rompaway Wally-Winbak Flame) for $17,500.
