Indiana Downs releases 2010 stakes schedule

Shelbyville, IN — Indiana Downs is pleased to unveil its 2010 stakes program worth over $1 million, highlighted by a couple of new additions and some changes to previous races.

The Monument Circle and Oliver Trotting Classic, which were previously contested in divisions, will each be contested as a single dash in 2010 and will also have a consolation worth $25,000. The Monument Circle (3-year-old colt and gelding pacers) will carry an estimated purse of $250,000 and will be held on Saturday, November 6. The Oliver Trotting Classic (3-year-old open trot) will carry an estimated purse of $200,000 and will be contested on Saturday, September 25.

The Indiana Pacing Derby (FFA pace) will now offer a guaranteed purse of $100,000 and will be raced on Saturday, November 6, one week before the American-National Aged Pace at Balmoral Park.

The newest addition to the stakes program, The Pride In Progress (FFA trot), will carry an guaranteed purse of $100,000 and will be contested on Saturday, September 25, one week before the Breeders Crown eliminations.

The Elevation (2-year-old colt and gelding pacers) will be worth an estimated total purse of $150,000 and will take place on Saturday, September 25, also one week before the Breeders Crown eliminations.

The Kentuckiana Trot for 2-year-old fillies will be raced on Tuesday, August 24, with the Kentuckiana Pace for 2-year-old fillies being contested on Saturday, September 25, again one week before the Breeders Crown eliminations.

Lastly, the Circle City series, worth an estimated $60,000 per division, will be for both 2- and 3-year-old pacers and trotters in 2010 and will be scattered throughout the Indiana Downs racing season.
