Columbus, OH — Flight Elal, the 3-year-old pacing gelding who was the 2011 Indiana Sire Stakes spring championship winner, will not race again this year.

According to co-owner Pacey Mindlin, the Panspacificflight-Lady With A Tan gelding, trained by Bill Dailey and driven by Peter Wrenn, will have throat surgery performed at Woodland Run in Groveport, Ohio. It is expected that Flight Elal will return to action next spring at Hoosier Park.

In 24 starts as a freshman and sophomore, the homebred Flight Elal has 11 wins, seven seconds and two thirds, with earnings of $494,456 and a mark of 3,1:52.1s. In four $200,000 Indiana Sire Stakes finals over the past two years, he had two wins and two seconds by very close margins.

Along with Mindlin, Flight Elal was bred and is co-owned by Ken Cohen.
