Insatiable Desire leads pacing fillies in Indiana Sires Stakes action

Shelbyville, IN — Five divisions of freshman filly pacers lined up behind the gate on Monday (August 15) at Indiana Downs for the second round of Indiana Sires Stakes competition.

Favorites carried the day in three of the $40,000 splits, led by Insatiable Desire. The Pro Bono Best-Silver Romance filly turned in the fastest time, tripping the timer in 1:55.2.

Driver Kayne Kauffman left from post five with Insatiable Desire in the night’s second race, taking control before the quarter. After a :27.3 opening quarter, the Lester Clemmons trainee was shuffled to second behind Bluebird Jettart, piloted by Elliott Deaton. Kauffman had the favorite out and moving on the way to the three-quarters in 1:27, surging to a five length lead at the top of the stretch. Insatiable Desire paced home in :28.2 to win by 4-3/4 lengths. Mamajons Bluegrass and Diane’s Z Tam followed in second and third.

Owned by Lester Clemmons, Brian Clemmons, John Daskivich and Jodie Daskivich, the victory was the second in as many starts for the 2-year-old. Bred by Mark Adams, Insatiable Desire knocked a full second off her previous best.

Favorite Kerosene and Peter Wrenn ignited in the stretch and drew away by five lengths at the line to win their $40,000 division in 1:55.4. The I Scoot Hanover-Color Me K filly collected her fourth win in five starts. Bred, owned and trained by Krista Williams, the freshman established a new lifetime mark with the win. I Scoot With Heart raced second while Our Lady Fitz finished third.

Bonos Lassie picked up her second win in three seasonal starts Monday evening with a 1:56.3 effort. The Ronnie Gillespie owned and trained Pro Bono Best-Brad’s Little Sis filly was guided by Dan Shetler. The favorite fired home in :28 to win by three lengths. Loretta and Trace Tetrick followed, with 57-1 Romantic Fever rounding out the trifecta. Bonos Lassie was bred by Leon Mansfield and Ailsa Craig Boys Stable.

Arts Chip N Gail and trainer/driver Mark Evers outlasted a late-closing Shirleybaerg and Wrenn by a neck in the fourth division in a time of 1:57.2. American Girl, driven by Ricky Macomber, Jr., paced third. The Art’s Chip-Stylish Strider filly was bred and is owned by Velocity Standardbreds. She broke her maiden in her second career start.

Fourth at the top of the stretch, Free Girl and Sam Widger overtook leader Emmasphere, steered by Brandon Bates, to win by a quarter length in 1:56. Don’t Hurry Love hit the board with a third-place finish. Owned by William Cantrell and trained by Mike Hollenback, the LCB-Secrethidingplace filly earned her first seasonal win. Free Girl was bred by Hoosier Standardbred Farm and Fair Meadow Farm.
