Thor, IA — The Iowa Harness Horsemen’s Association has made a decision to move forward with the creation of a leadership position for Iowa harness racing.

The role will require carrying out the communication tasks with Iowa harness membership, Iowa breeders, Prairie Meadows, Iowa Racing & Gaming Commission, the Iowa Department of Agriculture and other state and national organizations.

The Executive Secretary will work with the Board of Directors of the IHHA to support all areas of harness racing in director meeting support, race planning and conditions, stake program management, drug testing systems, racing promotions and press releases. All race day preparations from entry and draw, to programs, officials and purse payments will be directed by the Executive Secretary.

This position is open to any person with the experience and desire to work within the harness horse industry. Base salary is $30,000 with additional travel expenses. Actual salary may be adjusted due to experience and the summer of 2013 may be used as an apprentice period with full responsibilities beginning Jan. 1, 2014.
