J D’s Amjesty favored at Freehold

by Don Bielak, publicity director, Freehold Raceway

Freehold, NJ — Mark Labbree’s J D’s Amjesty, a beaten 3-5 favorite in her latest outing at Freehold on January 14, will attempt to make amends in the featured seventh race pace at Freehold Raceway on Wednesday.

The four-year-old daughter of Amity Chip is winless in two starts this year, but collected eight victories in 37 attempts in 2003. J D’s Amjesty beat Wednesday’s level of competition as recently as December 31 at Freehold, and only minor improvement should be needed to get her back on the winning track.

Hall of Famer Cat Manzi will handle J D’s Amjesty for trainer Paul Fusco. The duo will leave the gate from post one as the 7-5 favorite in the morning line.

One that should supply the favorite with serious opposition is Scooter Belle. The eight-year-old Direct Scooter mare most recently finished a close second to Daring Image N in a 1:593 mile. A repeat of that excellent effort should be good enough to contend in Wednesday’s main event.

Scooter Belle will start from post five and will open on the board as the 7-2 second choice in the morning line. Trainer Jake Hartline has named Marcus Johansson to drive.

She’s Way Cool, Lucky Filly, Nicoles-Tuition, Kerry Kate, Chucky’s Baby and Frankly Fit round out the field.

First post for Wednesday’s 12 race card at Freehold is set for 12:30 p.m.
