Jack Hufford, 80, dies

Columbus, OH — Jack A. Hufford, 80, of Tiffin, Ohio, died Sept. 28, 2011, at the Autumnwood Care Center.

Mr. Hufford was born Oct. 31, 1930, to Robert and Uleta (Stover) Hufford in Belle Vernon, Ohio. Growing up, he worked on the family farm in Sycamore, and went on to serve his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. After returning from the military, he went on to work for American Standard for 34 years, retiring in 1988.

Mr. Hufford trained and drove Standardbreds for over 50 years. He was a member of the USTA, the Ohio Harness Horsemen’s Association and the Seneca County Horsemen’s Association.

Mr. Hufford was also a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tiffin, a life member of the Knights of Columbus #608, and a life member of the Tiffin AMVETS.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Carmella (Panuto); children, David (Tina) and Lori Saxton; grandchildren, Anthony (Megan), Nick Fry, David Jr., Kyle Saxton and Mackenzie Saxton. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Tom; sister, Jean Martin; and cousins, Fred Stover and Eileen Hall.

Friends and family may visit on Friday (September 30) from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Hufford Family Funeral Home, 1500 Manor Hill Rd., Findlay (419.422.1500) where a scripture service will be held at 3:45 p.m. Funeral services will begin on Saturday (October 1), in the funeral home with prayers at 9 a.m. and proceed to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Tiffin, for a Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic cemetery.
