Jack R. Stickley, 65, dies

Columbus, OH — Jack R. Stickley, 65, of Lancaster, Ohio, formerly of Urbana, died March 30, 2010, in the Pickering House in Lancaster.

He was born Feb. 10, 1945 in Urbana, a son of Wallace and Lois (Williams) Stickley.

Mr. Stickley was a 1963 Urbana High School graduate, lettering in football while earning the nickname “Monster Man” and as a young man attended Westville United Methodist Church.

He was an employee of Culligan Water Conditioning since 1971 and made many good friends with his co-workers and customers throughout the years.

Training and racing Standardbreds was his passion and before his illness in 2007 he had again obtained his license with the USTA.

He was an avid hunter, fisherman and really enjoyed the outdoors.

Mr. Stickley is survived by his wife, Brenda (Adams), whom he married March 17, 1989; children, Jennifer (Matt), Jon (Meg), Scott (Shannon) Elliott and Angela (Shawn) Fitzsimmons; grandchildren, Madison, Taylor, Jacob, Anna, Eleeya, and Ethan; sisters, Alice Jean (Larry) White, Gloria (Robert) Ward and Stella Kay (Willard) Rogan; brothers, Bud and Wally (Annie); brothers-in-law, Wayne (Joan) Nichols and Mike (Cathy) Adams; mother-in-law, Nelia Adams; very close friend, Clarence Duffy; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Kathleen Nichols.

The family will receive friends on Friday, April 2, from 4–8 p.m. in the Walter & Smith Funeral Home, 642 S. Main St., Urbana. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 3, in the Westville United Methodist Church, 76 N. State Route 560, Westville, OH with the Rev. Dr. Peter Bellini officiating. Following Mr. Stickley’s wishes, he will be cremated.
