After gaining command, the 4-5 public choice backed the half down to :56.2 before facing a first-over push from Northern Express — who angled out from third at the half — through a :28.1 third quarter.
At the top of the stretch, Jack Vernon and driver Corey Callahan began to inch away, and ultimately evaded Northern Express (Russell Foster) by three-quarters of a length in a new lifetime mark of 1:52.3. Magic MVP (Pat Berry) finished third.
