Jailhouse Jesse filly tops Ohio Selected Jug Sale

Columbus, OH — The Ohio Selected Jug Sale was held on Monday, Sept. 20, at the Eden Park Equestrian Park in Sunbury.

A total of 117 yearlings went under the hammer and sold for an average price of $6,612. Trotting fillies topped the sale with 19 selling for an average price of $9,111. Trotting colts were next with 37 selling for an average of $7,676. On the pacing side, 25 colts sold for an average of $6,252, with 36 fillies averaging $4,450.

The sales topper was Jailhouse Juice, a trotting colt by Jailhouse Jesse-Wine Chip, who sold for $34,000 to Scott Mogan of Lockbourne, Ohio. Jailhouse Juice was bred and consigned by Midland Acres Inc. He is the first foal out of Wine Chip, a half sister to five $100,000 winners.

The top trotting filly sold was Jessica Rayne, a daughter of Jailhouse Jesse-Amber Rayne, who was sold for $27,000 to Matt Toler of Bidwell, Ohio. She was also bred and consigned by Midland Acres Inc. Jessia Rayne is a full sister to Call The Warden 3,Q1:57.1f ($65,607) and a half sister to Trojan Touch 1:56.4f ($194,176) and Cheers To Chip 1:55.2s ($164,331).

Feelin Kandel (Feelin Friskie-Candice Hall) was the sales topper among pacers, bringing $18,500. Consigned by Clearview Stables, the sales slip was signed by Eric Hamlet, agent for Jerome T. Osborne. Feelin Kandel is a colt and is a half brother to Jolly Jubiter p,2,1:55.3f–2010.
