James Arledge, 77, dies

Columbus, OH — James A. “Jim” Arledge, 77, of Circleville, Ohio, died May 19, 2012, at Mt. Carmel Medical Center in Columbus.

Mr. Arledge was born July 18, 1934, in Circleville, the son of the late William H. and Dorothy (Reed) Arledge. He was a graduate of Circleville High School, class of 1955, where he played football.

Beginning in 1962, and until this past year, he was active in training Standardbreds. He loved horses, camping with his family and friends, golf and his dog Holly.

Mr. Arledge is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marilyn (Evans); children, Jim R. (Rhonda) and Krista (Jeff) Amann; grandchildren, Jeff (Angela) Amann, Matthew (Mandy Lowery) Amann, Dustin (Tara), Denise, Cory and Jack; great-grandsons, Dominic and Brendan; brother-in-law, John Strawser; sister-in-law, Dorothy; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter-in-law, Tish; brothers, Ray and Harlow; and sisters, Helen Fowler, Mary Wolfe, Jo Ann Davis, Hazel Rose, Rita Robison, Betty Lane, Kate Perkins and Nancy Strawser.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday (May 24), in the chapel of the Defenbaugh-Wise-Schoedinger Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Moats officiating. Interment to follow at Hitler-Ludwig Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday (May 23) at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Central Ohio Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.
