James Cook, 70, dies

Columbus, OH — James L. “Jim” Cook, 70, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio died Dec. 18, 2010, at the Fairhaven Rehabilitation Center.

Mr. Cook was born Oct. 1, 1940 in Tiffin, Ohio to Lester and Ruth (Beidelschies) Cook. He married Rose E. Vaughn on February 21, 1959 in Upper Sandusky and she died March 9, 2002.

Mr. Cook retired as a superintendent after 38 years with the Ohio Department of Transportation in Upper Sandusky. He was a social member of the Amvets #777 in Upper Sandusky.

His father trained Standardbreds, as did his sister, Karon (Cook) Compston. Mr. Cook was a former member of the USTA. He enjoyed going to the races and attending various fairs.

He is survived by his mother, Ruth; companion, Marlene Quail; daughter, Tami; granddaughters, Brandy Lundy and Shyla Lundy; great granddaughter, Rayna Kennedy; sister, Karon (Jerry) Compston; and son-in-law, Lloyd Lundy. He was preceded in death by his father; daughter, Tracy Lundy; and grandmother, Sophia Bartram.
