James Kane Jr., 78, dies

Columbus, OH — James M. Kane, Jr., 78, of Kimball, Mich., died July 20, 2011.

Mr. Kane was born October 12, 1932, in Detroit to the late Anna and James Kane Sr. He married Vera Zadauskas on February 2, 1952, in Emmett.

Mr. Kane served in the U.S. Navy in the submarine service during the Korean War.

He was a horse trainer and raced Standardbreds for the last 30 years. He was a member of the Michigan Harness Horsemen’s Association.

Mr. Kane is survived by his wife of 59 years, Vera; brothers, Richard (Willia), Michael (Judy), Paul and Kenneth (Cindy); sisters, Patricia Gahrig, Josephine, Jacqueline Ingles and Mary (Bill) Weiss; dear friend and sister-in-law, Eleanor; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Patrick, William, Charles, David and Albert.

Cremation has taken place. No services are scheduled.
