Jeffery Cox, 66, dies

Columbus, OH — Jeffery Lynn Cox, 66, of Brunswick, Ohio, died May 23, 2021.

He was born Feb. 18, 1955, in Canton, Ohio, to the late Hilton Stanley and Margaret Betty (nee DeLong) Cox.

He was the owner of Jeff Cox Stables which specialized in Standardbred race horse training for more than 45 years. Racing at Northfield Park and many East Coast tracks, he was appreciated for all the qualities you want in a trainer — honesty, integrity and knowledge.

He had a passion and talent for golf and enjoyed many days on the golf course with his friends.

Mr. Cox was a member of the NW Church of Christ, Canton; U.S. Trotting Association; and the Ohio Harness Horsemen’s Association.

He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Frances Nasiatka; brothers, Rannie (Nancy), Tracy (David), and Scott (Aliza); sisters, Sherree and Terrie (Pete) Shrake; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He leaves behind many friends from the Standardbred industry and will be dearly missed by all who knew and worked with him.

There will be a celebration for Mr. Cox at Northfield Park on Saturday (June 5). More information will be posted on this website.
