Jeffery P cruises to 2nd straight in Meadows Top Trot

Washington, PA — Jeffery P retook the lead at the quarter and brooked no serious challenges thereafter, triumphing for the second straight week in Friday’s (May 3) $21,200 Open Handicap Trot at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.

Once back on the top, Jeffery P never drew away from the field, but the 9-year-old Full Count-Betty Jean gelding made it clear he was the boss, scoring in 1:53.2 for Ronnie Wrenn, Jr. Early leader Mon Amour was second, beaten 1-1/4 lengths, while Double Account was a ground-saving third.

Ron Burke trains Jeffery P, who now boasts $515,532 in career earnings, for Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi LLC and Phillip Collura.

Aaron Merriman, trainer Brandon Presto and Wrenn each enjoyed a triple.

On Saturday (May 4), The Meadows offers its annual Kentucky Derby Day celebration featuring top-shelf live harness racing followed by the Kentucky Derby simulcast — with plenty of fun festivities through the day.

The live card is headlined by a pair of stakes for 3-year-old colt and gelding pacers — a $159,771 Pennsylvania Sires Stake and a $60,000 PA Stallion Series event.
