Jeffery P is fourth March winner in weekly open trots at Miami Valley

Lebanon, OH – Jeffery P made it four different winners in the four weekly featured Open Trots at Miami Valley in March on Monday (March 28) afternoon.

The prolific 7-year-old son of Full Count, handled by Brett Miller, was a near gate-to-wire victor—save for a very brief early give-and-go maneuver with eventual runnerup MVP Luke (Jeremy Smith) during the first quarter, timed in :28. Dictating all the remaining fractions, Jeffery P held MVP Luke at bay by three-quarters of a length at the end of the 1:54 mile. I Know My Chip (Tyler Smith) was another length back in third as the top six finishers in the seven horse field were all Ohio-sired.

Jeffery P is now a 41-time winner in just 123 lifetime starts, with earnings of $418,261. He is owned by Burke Racing, Weaver Bruscemi and Phil Collura. He was bred eight years ago by friends Bob Slowey, Tony Minute and Dennis “Big D” Osterholt who named him as a tribute to their late partner Jeffery Polichena.

March winners of the weekly Open Trot were Big City Princess (LeWayne Miller, March 7), I Know My Chip (Tyler Smith, March 14), Pass The Vape (Dan Noble, March 21) and Jeffery P (Brett Miller, March 28).

Finalists were also determined on Monday for the $22,500 final of the Robet J. “Skeeter” Brown Memorial Series championship on April 4. By winning the final preliminary leg Motto (Chris Page) jumped to the head of the series standings. The 3-year-old son of Creatine topped a fast-closing Forceful Power (Hugh Beatty) in 1:57.3, with Yankees Aftershock (Josh Sutton) finishing a creditable third.

In addition to the top three, others who qualified for next week’s championship tilt were Heart Stopping, Shamrocks, Swartz Bros Susie, Spent, Doo Wop Kid and Tiger King.

Miami Valley will be back at it on Tuesday (March 29) at the regular 4:05 p.m. post time.
