Jenna’s Choice coasted to victory in the second of two $35,000 divisions of the Aquarius Series.

It was the second straight win for the four-year-old son of Jenna’s Beach Boy, who paced the mile in 1:52.1 on a cold and blustery night.

Jenna’s Choice [$3.80, $2.40, $2.20], driven by Brian Sears, finished one and a half lengths ahead of Escapable Beaux [$3.80, $3.60]. Stallone [$5.00] was third by two and three-quarter lengths.

The gelding races for Cliff Pattick of Montvale, New Jersey; Daniel Borgo of Randolph, New Jersey and trainer Mark Silva of Little Ferry, New Jersey.

Jenna’s Choice swept through three Winter Series stakes last year but missed nine months with a pastern fracture. Since returning to action, he has two wins and a second in three starts.

“I couldn’t be happier with the way he’s come back this year,” said Sears. “We got the softest trip possible the way it worked out. I didn’t have to race him early or brush him into the wind.”

“He’s better than he was last year,” Silva noted. “He’s pacing the turns better. Last year he was green, and you couldn’t hustle him around the turns. We’ve let his hobbles out and his head poles are looser. He seems to be going better.”

In the first Aquarius division, carded as the fifth race, Roddy’s Bags Again [$7.00, $3.80, $2.60] took the lead at the half and held on to win by a length and a quarter over All Over The Place [$3.40, $2.40] in 1:53.

It was four lengths back to Royal Flush Shark [$2.60] and Gryffindor [$2.40] who deadheated for third.

Roddy’s Bags Again, driven by Mike Lachance and trained by Timothy Torbert, finished in the money in 19 of 27 starts at three, winning the $260,238 Matron Stakes at Dover Downs on December 12. This year, the four-year-old son of Dragon Again has a win and two thirds in five starts. Bred by owner Robert Messick of Milford, Delaware, Roddy’s Bags Again has banked more than $350,000 lifetime.

“When I left last week with him, I had to back to him up to almost last,” said Lachance. “I knew going into tonight, he would be good. He’s got a lot of speed. He’s a nice horse.”

“He raced really big, considering the wind on the backside,” Torbert noted. “Mike was really happy with him. That was how I hoped the race would go with the short field. I was hoping he’d make a move to the front. That’s where he does his best racing. I left the driving up to Mike. But it seems like we were on the same page.”
