Nichols, NY — Canadian star Jody Jamieson cemented his status as one of the world’s elite drivers after a dominant victory in Monday night’s $50,000 Drivers’ Championship at Tioga Downs.
“I think I’m under a lot of scrutiny when I come to the United States to drive horses,” said Jamieson, who added Tioga’s $25,000 top prize to his second World Championship earned earlier this month. “I think people look at me and think he’s just a Canadian kid. He can’t compete against our guys.”
Hear more from Jamieson and see all the highlights from the Drivers’ Championship on this week’s episode of “Inside Harness Racing.” Viewers can see all the action tonight (Wednesday) at 6:00 PM on Time Warner Cable Sports throughout Upstate New York. Viewers are encouraged to check their local listings for the channel in their area.
Canadian viewers can also watch “Inside Harness Racing” on HPItv during their morning programming.
Fans outside the viewing areas can watch the show and all previous episodes on the Tioga Downs YouTube Channel.
For the first time in track history, the Hambletonian winner raced at Tioga Downs. Broad Bahn cruised to victory in the Zweig Memorial Trot, becoming the first horse in two decades to complete the Hambletonian-Zweig double.
Plus, Vernon Downs played host to not one, but two track records during the New York Sire Stakes on Saturday.
“Inside Harness Racing” is a 30-minute, fast-paced look into the harness racing scene at Tioga Downs and Vernon Downs. The program is hosted and produced by Justin Horowitz with production and videography by Jim Rotundo.
