Joe Lee appears in YES Network segment

Hightstown, NJ — Amateur harness racing driver Joe Lee was featured in a segment on the YES Network during the lead up to Tuesday’s New York Yankees game against the Seattle Mariners.

Lee, the Yankees assistant equipment manager, was profiled by Meredith Marakovits in a “Mere on the Move” feature during Yankees Batting Practice Today, which aired from 6-6:30 p.m., prior to the Yankees pre-game show.

After taking a look at Lee’s duties in the clubhouse, Marakovits and the YES Network crew headed to The Meadowlands to watch Lee in action in a recent amateur race. Marakovits joined Lee on the track to warm up his horse and also did an interview in the paddock.

“It’s good for the sport, to get some exposure, and people in baseball get to see some racing,” Lee said. “It should be a fun piece. It was a fun afternoon with Meredith and having them come over to the racetrack and seeing the business from behind the scenes.”

Lee launched his amateur driving career in 2010 and has won 114 races. He established career highs for victories (24) and purses ($207,911) last year.
