Joe Lee wins GSY Series race

East Rutherford, NJ — The fourth race on the Friday (April 15) Meadowlands card featured nine trotters that went to post for the only GSY Amateur event of the night.

Under clear skies and 58 degree weather, Joe Lee, who picked up the catch drive earlier in the week, went wire-to-wire behind B L Class Act.

As the gate sprung open, there were a few leavers from the inside and outside posts. It took Lee to the quarter pole to clear to the lead and stay there for the entire mile. He ended up a neck better than second place finisher Cup Day Spur N, who sat the pocket with Hannah Miller holding the lines. The race favorite and strong closer, Feisty Love with Roy Marohn in the bike, finished third. The race went in 1:56.1.

B L Class Act is owned by another amateur driver and Michigan native, Michael Mitchell, and trained by Allen Sisco.

Next Friday, the Meadowlands will host the GSY for The Dash For the G Notes Series and the purse is $6,000. The top 10 horses will qualify for the final the following week and will go for a hefty amateur purse of $12,500. Come on down and enjoy the excitement of April harness racing at the Meadowlands.
