John De Simone Jr. has a big day at Monticello Raceway

Monticello, NY – The home grown 60-year-old John De Simone Jr. has been a fixture at Monticello Raceway for more than four decades. On Wednesday afternoon (June 5), “Johnny D” made the most of the absence of the track’s three leading drivers as he won four races on the day, one of the four with Kenrick N, which led to the the fastest mile of the year, at Monticello.

Kenrick N, the classy out-of-town invader started from the two hole and ripped off fractions of :27.3, :56.3, 1:25.1 and opened up 10 lengths on the pack to trip the timer in 1:53.3. The 7-year-old son of Bettor’s Delight is trained by Austin Gilbert and earned his second win of the season.

Desimone’s other winners on the afternoon were aboard Adorable Ben (1:59.4 – $19.80), Superiorcourt (1:58.2 – $13.20), and Elias (Joy 2:01 – $4.20).
