Delaware, OH — Radar Contact’s 11 race winning streak has fallen under the radar as most of harness racing’s headlines have centered on See You At Peelers’ unblemished career record of 21 victories in a row.
Radar Contact, like See You At Peelers, is a 3-year-old pacing filly. She is seven-for-seven this season. She also won her last four starts in 2010.
“Radar Contact hasn’t raced more than 40 miles from her base home here in Indianapolis all season,” said trainer and co-owner Chuck Stillings. “”When she won the $200,000 Indiana Sires Stakes Final on July 16 at Hoosier Park, she proved to me she was a top class filly.
“We plan to bring her to Delaware, Ohio, to race in the Jugette,” said Stillings. “She has five more starts before that race (September 21) and we are really excited.”
Stillings and Dean Ehrgott purchased Radar Contact for $10,000 at the 2009 Hoosier Classic Yearling Sale. She is by Dontgetinmyway and was bred by Merle Yoder.
Stillings says Radar Contact “is not aggressive, she will race along the rail or outside and she relaxes well in a race. But she doesn’t quit. She is a perfect horse to drive.”
Danny Shetler, another native Hoosier, has driven Radar Contact in each of her last 11 winning starts, dating back to last September. Radar Contact also set a track record of 1:53.4 this past spring at Spring Garden Ranch in Florida.
As a 2-year-old, Radar Contact had five wins, three seconds and three thirds in 12 starts and earnings of $202,515 with a record of 1:54.4. In 2011, she has won all seven starts with winnings of $205,000 and a mark of 1:53.
