Wilkes-Barre, PA — Jus’ Chilln Out, with Dave Palone in the sulky, established a new world record for a three-year-old filly pacer on a five-eighths-mile track by winning one of four divisions of the Pennsylvania Sires Stakes on Sunday night (August 1) at The Downs at Pocono.

Time of the mile was 1:503, which broke the previous world and track mark of Gordon’s Jin Ms. The latter set the previous world and Pocono mark of 1:51 on July 6, 2003 with Brian Sears in the bike. The 1:503 time is the fastest any filly has ever gone on a five-eighths-mile track.

“It’s just beautiful,” said a happy Palone after the race. “I just love Pocono Downs and I couldn’t be any happier for Joe Holloway, the trainer, and owners Roll the Dice Stable. I’m very good friends with them off the track.”

In the race, Kerosene Artist, driven by David Miller, left quickly from the three post and seized the lead with Jus’ Chilln Out sitting second. Opening panel was clicked off in :263, half in :543 and three-quarters in 1:221.

Kerosene Artist and Jus’ Chilln Out were still one-two at the three-quarter mark when Palone tipped to the outside to come after the pacesetter. Jus’ Chilln Out took the lead coming down the stretch and won by a length and three-quarters over Kerosene Artist.

“I didn’t have to use my filly until the stretch drive,” offered Palone. “I got a real good trip and Kerosene Artist carried us further than I would have thought. We were just sailing along and I knew we were flying during the race.”

Jus’ Chilln Out now has won six of 11 starts this season with two seconds.

Miller won two of the four Pennsylvania Stakes races on Sunday night. He drove Ice Sculpture to a 1:52 victory for trainer Jim Campbell and owners Arlene and Jules Siegel of New Hope, Pennsylvania. This was the sixth win in seven starts for Ice Sculpture.

The second stakes victory for Miller came in the final division with Pantidepressant, a victor in 1:523. Virgil Morgan, Jr., trains Pantidepressant, owned by the Peter Pan Stables, Inc. of Pepper Pike, Ohio.

Front Page News, driven by George Napolitano, Jr., and trained by Ray Van Dreason, won the other division for the three-year-old pacing fillies. Front Page News was a victor in 1:523.
