Just Like Magic gets 23-1 DQ win in Meadows trot

Washington, PA – Just Like Magic, who finished five seemingly harmless lengths behind the runaway unofficial winner, Perlucky, was awarded the victory at 23-1 when Perlucky was disqualified for interference in Wednesday’s (Oct. 20) $16,000 Preferred Handicap Trot at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.

Perlucky left from post four and crossed over to the pylons to claim the two hole. In doing so, the judges ruled, he interfered with Mystical Peter, causing him to break stride.

Meanwhile, Just Like Magic rallied for Hunter Myers to better early leader Wind Of The North by 1-1/4 lengths for second, a late move that brought the 4-year-old Dontyouforgetit-Trainedfordancin gelding the unexpected victory. Stickler Hanover finished fourth-placed-third while Perlucky was placed back to fifth behind Mystical Peter.

Joelene Christman trains Just Like Magic, who was assigned the winning time of 1:55.4, and owns with Mark Christman.

Myers collected four wins and Aaron Merriman three on the 13-race card.

Live racing at The Meadows continues Thursday when the 12-race program features a $56,762.52 carryover in the final-race Super Hi-5 as well as an $893.18 carryover in the Pick 5 (race 7). First post is 12:45 p.m.
