Justice Hall to stand in Quebec

by Steven Katz

Lexington, KY — Justice Hall, a 6-year-old stallion by Hall of Fame sire Garland Lobell, will return to from whence his sire came when he begins a stud career in the 2008 breeding season at Les Ecuries SOS Bedford, Inc. in Stanbridge Station, Quebec. The announcement was made jointly by the stallion’s owners and Monalisa Pagliericci and Francine Morrissette of Fermes SOS. His introductory stallion service fee will be C$2,500 for a live foal.

Garland Lobell’s colts and fillies dominated Le Circuit Quebec before he left the province in the mid-1990s for the United States. He went on to sire the three full brothers Andover Hall, Angus Hall, and Conway Hall, who have in turn become leading sires. Those brothers all command stud fees of at least $15,000. Justice Hall won more money than any other son of Garland Lobell, after those three full brothers, nearly $700,000.

Justice Hall was also the fourth leading money winning 3-year-old trotting colt in 2004, racing against the likes of Windsong’s Legacy, Tom Ridge, Cantab Hall, Cash Hall, Sand Vic, and Citation. He missed exactly one check at both age 2 and 3 (the Matron at 3, when interfered with) and competed in most of the classics, including the Hambletonian (fifth), Kentucky Futurity (second), and Canadian Trotting Classic (third). He was also placed in the Allerage Trot and Mack Lobell Series finals as an older horse, and on the European Grand Circuit he finished second in the Finlandia Ajo at Helsinki.

Justice Hall is entered to race this Saturday in the $108,500 Allerage Trot at The Red Mile. He will make a few more starts this fall before taking up residence in Quebec.
