Justin Huckabone gets another grand slam at Vernon

Vernon, NY — Justin Huckabone is having a season to remember at Vernon Downs and he drove four more winners on Saturday (Oct. 9).

Huckabone got his wins with Quaker Hill ($4.50), Crossfit Mouse ($4.10), Jericho Willie ($4.20), and Lyons Pegasus ($3.80). He won four races on Friday as well, giving him eight wins on the weekend.

Discus Hanover (Leon Bailey) charged late to capture the featured $7,500 Open 1 Trot.

Credit List (Huckabone) took the lead just before hitting the first quarter in :26.3. Lucky June Bug (Chris Long) came first-up and put the pressure on going down the backstretch. Credit List led to the half in :56 and was first at three-quarters in 1:25.2.

As they reached the stretch Discus Hanover ($10.60) popped out of the pocket and went flying by to win easily in 1:54.1. Double Dealing (Jimmy Whittemore) fired late to finish second. Credit List had to settle for third.

Discus Hanover is a 4-year-old gelding by Credit Winner. He is owned by Phillip Hale and trainer David Dewhurst. It was his ninth win of the season and his 25th career victory.
