Kawartha season ending in style

from Kawartha Downs

Fraserville, ON — The 2017 racing season at Kawartha Downs, one of the most successful ever in terms of handle and attendance, is coming to a close this Saturday (Sept. 30) and is going out in style.

On track is the annual Shorelines Drivers’ Challenge where the top nine drivers at Kawartha Downs this season, Nick Boyd, Rob Doyle, Dan Gassien, Reg Gassien, Jim Gillespie, Steve Hudon, Brett MacDonald, Justin Turcotte and Rick Webb, will square off in races three through seven. The winner will be determined by a point system with 50 points for a win, 25 for second, 12 for third, 10 for fourth and five for fifth as well as a scratch.

Standardbred Canada’s Fan Club will be on hand with a contest. Fans can select the driver they think will win the Championship for a chance to win some great prizes. Patrons may also enter a ballot from the evening’s program to be eligible for draws following the first eight races on the night.
The participating drivers will be in the grandstand prior to the start of the races to hand out and autograph free posters.

The kids’ club, which has had more than 1,100 visitors from 17 race cards this season, will be open at 6:30 p.m. and includes a bouncy castle for the youngsters.

Post time is 7 p.m.
