Keep Watching cruises in Meadows series feature

Washington, PA – Keep Watching zipped to the lead from post 5 and never had an anxious moment, rolling to victory in Wednesday’s (March 3rd) Donna Dunn Memorial Pace at The Meadows. Best Derby Native captured the other $10,000 opening-leg division in the series for 3 and 4-year-old fillies and mares.

Keep Watching winning her series split Wednesday at The Meadows for Dave Palone. Chris Gooden photo.

The event honors the memory of Donna Dunn, longtime Standardbred owner and wife of the late owner/breeder/trainer/driver Walter “Boots” Dunn.

Keep Watching began her career with 27 straight losses but now has won two straight for her new connections, trainer Kevin Johnson and owner Rockridge Racing. Once the 4-year-old daughter of He’s Watching-Ravishnmasterpiece made the point for Dave Palone, she had little trouble holding off the mild challenge of the first-over Filly Speaks, defeating her by 2-1/2 lengths in a sharp 1:53.4. Lady Sophia earned show.

Aaron Merriman and Palone each collected three wins on the 13-race card.

Live racing at The Meadows continues Thursday (March 4th) when the 13-race program features the opening leg of two series — The Dale McConnell Memorial Trot and the Mary Wohlmuth Memorial Trot. On the wagering front, the card offers a pair of carryovers — $1,608.09 in the Pick-5 (race 8), $1,249.57 in the final-race Super Hi-5. First post is 12:45 p.m.
