Kentucky Proud Series kicks off at Oak Grove

Oak Grove, KY — The first Kentucky Proud Series events of 2022 were held at Oak Grove Racing, Gaming & Hotel this past weekend. The Purchase District Fair drew 19 races full of talented 2- and 3-year-olds.

Captain Carmella kicked the day off capturing the only division for 2-year-old pacing fillies. The Captaintreacherous filly crossed the wire in 1:58.3 for trainer-driver Jim Brinson and owners Mary and Kurt Kratz.

Ifudntnomebynow was the fastest of the 2-year-old colt pacers. The son of Odds On Equuleus drew off to win 1:55.3 for driver Terry Skinner, who also trains and co-owns with Rico Johnson. Base Stealer and Swing Dancing were the other division winners.

Shopping In Paris was the quickest in her class of 2-year-old filly trotters. Elliott Deaton guided the Walner filly to an easy win in 2:02.1. Anette Lorentzon trains for ACL Stuteri Ab, herself and Kjell Johansson. Other division winners were Love Yourself As and Douce France.

Swan We Go was an impressive 14-length winner in his split of the 2-year-old colt trotters. Carson Conrad picked up the catch drive for owner-trainer Pasko Vucinaj. The Swan In A Million gelding won in 2:02.2. Make A Wish Deo and Cashamigos won the other splits.

Msdinosis Blugrass was the fastest 3-year-old of the day. The filly by JK Endofanera won in a lifetime best time of 1:52.3 for driver Randal Jerrell. Donald Brock trains for Luel Overstreet.

The fastest mile for 3-year-old trotters belonged to Saffron Girl, who won in 1:58. The Muscle Hill filly picked up her 3rd win of the season for owner Ryan Smith. Todd Warren drove for trainer Jack Gray Jr.

The next Kentucky Proud Series stop will be at the Ballard County Fair, held in LaCenter, Ky., on Saturday (June 4).
