Keppler, Schwartz NAADA winners at Yonkers

Yonkers, NY — Two $10,000 North American Amateur Drivers Association trotting events went to post prior to Thursday’s (Sept. 30) card at Yonkers Raceway, with Scott Keppler and Alan Schwartz proving victorious in their respective divisions.

After two consecutive breaks, Judge Ken was all business. Keppler eased him cautiously into third as the field passed the first quarter. Once settled, Keppler moved the Justice Hall gelding to the outside to overtake Stealing (Matt Zuccarello) past three-quarters. Turning for home, Judge Ken showed the way for a 2:00.2 win. Stealing was second; Gemini Eddie (Joe Faraldo) rallied for third.

Steve Moore trains Judge Ken, whom Keppler owns.

The second split was a barn burner, with three horses rushing to the finish line noses apart. Ladys Big Stormont and Schwartz zoomed to the lead, cut all the fractions, and still had enough left to rebuff the hard-charging All Night Credit (Zuccarello) and Cimeronken (David Glasser) in 1:59.3.

Schwartz owns and trains Ladys Big Stormont, who notched his 41st career victory and the first of his 10-year-old season.
