Killer Instinct wins second straight in Meadows feature

Washington, PA — Killer Instinct was all-out to hold off the late challenge of Saint K, but hold him off he did, winning his second straight in Wednesday’s (Dec. 7) feature at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows, a $15,400 conditioned trot.

Saint K got away first and stretched out the 3-5 favorite, who couldn’t cross over until near the three-eighths. But Dave Palone gave Killer Instinct a :29.3 second quarter, a breather that may have helped him fend off Saint K’s bid by a head. The 4-year-old Southwind Frank-Wheely Quick gelding scored in 1:54.1, lifting his lifetime bankroll to $209,225 for trainer Melanie O’Donnell, who owns with Corey Hendricks.

Palone joined Brady Brown, Jeremy Indof and trainer Dirk Simpson with three wins apiece.

Live racing at The Meadows continues Thursday (Dec. 8), when the 13-race program features a $21,054.55 carryover in the final-race Jackpot Super Hi-5. The card also offers a $312.17 carryover in the Jackpot Pick-5 (races 4-8). First post is 12:45 p.m.
