Kilmister, Boudoir Hanover slay foes at Red Mile

Lexington, KY — On Sunday (Aug. 21), Kilmister simply put on a show in his first appearance at Red Mile in the $80,000 third round leg of the Kentucky Championship series for 2-year-old male trotters when he hit the line in 1:52.3.

Boudoir Hanover also did not disappoint as the heavy favorite in the $80,000 third round leg of the Championship series for 3-year-old pacing fillies when she tripped the teletimer in 1:50.3.

Kilmister (Chapter Seven-Treviso) bided his time in sixth position, advanced to third by the half-mile pole and then strode to the lead to remain a perfect five-for-five. Trained by Marcus Melander, the colt and his driver Brian Sears threw down two consecutive :27.4 quarters en route to the winner’s circle.

Excalibur Bi (Andrew McCarthy), the leader in the early stages of this contest, was second and Point Of Perfect (Todd McCarthy) was third.

Bred by Moni Market Breeders, Kilmister was initially named Capitolo Finale and was purchased by Courant Inc. for $170,000 at last year’s Lexington Selected Yearling Sale. He is the second foal out of his dam who amassed $330,515 during her racing career.

Kilmister has already competed at four different racetracks and captured the $337,000 Peter Haughton Memorial. The colt has earned $249,035 in purse money. He paid $4.14 to win.

Boudoir Hanover (Todd McCarthy) overhauled leader Msdinosis Bluegrass (Dexter Dunn) heading into the homestretch and paced away from her competition. Dont Fence Me In (Andrew McCarthy) was third.

Trained by Tony Alagna, the regally bred daughter of Captaintreacherous-Bedroomconfessions last entered the winner’s circle on July 1 at Harrah’s Hoosier Park after capturing the $115,000 Nadia Lobell. She was then second in the $150,000 Mistletoe Shalee, second in a $52,400 division of the Tompkins-Geers Stake July 30 and fifth in the $92,300 Shady Daisy on Aug. 6.

Bred by Riverview Breeding and Visionary Breeders, Boudoir Hanover now has a record of 19-5-5-2 and has banked $423,001. The filly is owned by Riverview Racing, Alagna Racing, Caviart Farms, and D. Plouffe and S. Head. Boudoir Hanover paid $2.26 to those who supported her at the windows.

Kentucky Commonwealth Series

There were three $30,000 divisions of the Commonwealth series on the afternoon card. Two of the events were third round legs for male freshman trotters and one was a second round leg for 3-year-old filly pacers.

Yo Lucky Moni (International Moni-Unbelindyble) upset favored Novel in 1:56.1 to take the first division for 2-year-old male trotters. Sayinwhatimthinkin (Trevor Smith) was second and Novel (Dunn) was third.

Trained and driven by Verlin Yoder, Yo Lucky Moni was bred by Lindy Farms Of Conn and now has a record of 7-2-1-1. The gelding has earned $37,000. Yo Lucky Moni paid $38.10 to win.

Scotty Deo (Trixton-Say My Name) and Andrew McCarthy won the second division for 2-year-old male trotters in 1:55.2. Espresso (Andy Miller) was second and Growin Account (Todd McCarthy) was third.

Trained by Charlie Norris, Scotty Deo is owned by Carrie Norris and LJB Racing. The gelding was bred by Deo Volente Farms and has collected $22,150 in purse money. Scotty Deo annexed his first career victory to improve his record to 6-1-1-0. He paid $14.06 to win.

Queen Of Success (Andrew McCarthy) provided her driver with his fourth win of the day when she stopped the clock in 1:49.2 in the second round division for 3-year-old pacing fillies. Lookatmyrapsheet (Yannick Gingras) was second and Style For A Mile (Dunn) was third.

Bred by Brittany Farms and Marvin Katz, the daughter of Captaintreacherous earned her first win of the season. She has a record of 18-6-3-2 lifetime and has banked $157,967. Queen Of Success is owned by Alagna Racing, Caviart Farms and Robert Leblanc. She paid $5.66 to win.

Kentucky Golden Rod Series

There were six $15,000 legs of the Golden Rod Series. Four of these races were the third round for male freshman trotters. They were won by Grizz Wyllie (Gingras) in 1:56, Challenger (Ake Svanstedt) in 1:55.2, Country Dagger (Sears) in 1:55.4 and Prince Of Honor (Todd McCarthy) in 1:56.1.

The other two divisions of the series were second round legs for sophomore filly pacers. They were won by Fly Like An Angel (Gingras) in 1:50.4 and Kentukylady (Christian Lind) in 1:52.1.

Sire stakes action continues at Red Mile on Monday (Aug. 22) and Tuesday (Aug. 23) with a 1 p.m. EDT post time.
