Kommin On Strong finds room, takes Meadows feature

Washington, PA — Trapped inside until mid-stretch, Kommin On Strong angled outside, shifted to high gear, and captured Thursday’s (Aug. 11) feature at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows, a $14,000 conditioned trot.

Mike Wilder actually needed two quick moves to find racing room for Kommin On Strong, first getting her a lane or two off the cones, then swinging widest of all. The 4-year-old daughter of Donato Hanover-Komma Ka Z handled the lateral activity beautifully, scoring in 1:54.1 for her second straight victory and fourth in the last five starts. Killer Instinct raced well first-up for second, beaten a neck, with early leader Mac Deeno third.

Dean Collins trains the winner, who now boasts a lifetime bankroll of $114,721, and owns with Arnold Witkin and Claude Gendreau Stable.

Dave Palone continued his recent tear, winning three races to give him 17 victories over the last four programs.

Friday’s (Aug. 12) program at The Meadows features a pair of stakes for freshman trotting fillies: a $147,668 Pennsylvania Sire Stakes and a $60,000 Pennsylvania Stallion Series event. On the wagering front, the card offers a $448.99 carryover in the Jackpot Pick-5 (races 4-8). First post is 5:10 p.m.
