Lady’s Image makes it two straight at Pocono

Wilkes-Barre, PA — Lady’s Image now has 10 top-two finishes in 11 seasonal starts after winning her debut – and farewell – for owner-trainer Brandy Wine, taking Tuesday’s (April 19) featured claiming handicap trot at The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono.

Driver Braxten Boyd reserved the mare just off a :57 first-half battle between Buzz and favorite R Herbie Chip, then swept around the parked favorite to reach Buzz nearing the 1:25.1 three-quarters. Lady’s Image trotted away from the embattled leader for the second straight week, winning in 1:55.2 by 4-3/4 lengths while closing into the wind. Wine lost the winner for the $22,800 she paid for her after her last win, but still she made a $6,000 profit from the Dontyouforgetit mare’s win.

Tyler Buter and George Napolitano Jr. both posted three driving victories during the afternoon.

Pocono races next on Saturday (April 23) at 1:30 p.m., with the $50,000 final of the Bobby Weiss Series for 3-year-old trotting males serving as the feature. El Toro Loco and That Ole Bar Stool will vie for Weiss favoritism: El Toro Loco won both his Weiss starts, including a neck decision over That Ole Bar Stool, with his rival impressive in victory after El Toro Loco skipped the final preliminary. Also on the card is the last preliminary round of the Weiss for pacing males, featuring talented horses such as Lanjo Lee and Shake It. Program pages will be available at the PHHA website.
