Lakeisha Hall wins Meadows feature off layoff

Washington, PA — Racing off a five-week layoff, Lakeisha Hall got the pocket trip she needed before barreling through the Lightning Lane to capture Tuesday’s (July 24) $20,000 Filly & Mare Preferred Handicap Pace at The Meadows.

Lakeisha Hall edged Fox Valley Charm by a head in 1:52.

Fox Valley Charm took the field into the final turn but was attacked outside by McDazzle and inside by Lakeisha Hall, who edged Fox Valley Charm by a head in 1:52. McDazzle was a close-up third.

In Tuesday’s companion feature, an $18,000 Preferred Handicap Trot, Wind Of The North won his third straight, a front-end jog in 1:54.1, for Aaron Merriman and owner/trainer Bill Bercury. The 8-year-old Cantab Hall-Talk To The Wind gelding now boasts a lifetime bankroll of $943,848.

Live racing at The Meadows continues Wednesday, when the program includes a $12,500 total-pool guarantee for the Pick-5, a $7,500 total-pool guarantee for the Pick-4 and a $3,560.80 jackpot in the Super High 5. First post is 1:05 p.m.
