Land of Lincoln sale shows significant increase

Columbus, OH — The 2011 Land of Lincoln yearling sale, held on Sunday (August 14) at Walker Standardbred Farm in Sherman, Ill., showed an increase of more than 25 percent for the average sale price, as compared to the 2010 sale.

A total of 114 head sold in this year’s sale, for a gross total of $1,267,900, or an average price of $11,122. The 2010 sale saw 132 yearlings sell for $1,140,000, or an average of $8,636.

The sales topper was hip number 102, Let Love Win, a daughter of Cole Muffler-Shessoluvabull, who was sold to John Carver for a price of $150,000. She was consigned by Freedom Hill Farms. Let Love Win is a full sister to Iam Bonasera p,4,1:49.2 ($432,817) and Enzo The Baker p,2,1:51.3 ($198,090).

The sales runner-up sold just before at hip number 101 as the colt Fox Valley So Hot (Yankee Skycaper-She’s Redhot) was hammered down to William DeLong for $70,000. He was consigned by Fox Valley Standardbreds. Fox Valley So Hot is a half brother to five $100,000-plus earners, led by Hot N Sporty (by Sportsmaster) p,2,1:50.2 ($499,038).
