The April 15 deadline is drawing near for many stakes payments. Below are a list of notices that have been submitted to the USTA Newsroom.

Ohio Sire Stakes sustaining payments due

Columbus, OH — Ohio Sires Stakes sustaining payments are due on April 15. If you wait until April 15 to mail your payment, please make sure you witness the post office place the postmark on your envelope. Envelopes postmarked after April 15 cannot be accepted.

Sustaining payments due at Indiana Downs

Shelbyville, IN — Sustaining payments for the Monument Circle, Oliver Trotting Classic, Kentuckiana Stakes, Elevation, and the Circle City for 2-year-olds are due April 15.

Sustaining payments due for Delaware Open Series and Ohio Breeders Championships

Delaware, OH — Sustaining payments for the new Delaware Open Series and the Ohio Breeders Championships are due Friday, April 15.

A payment of $100 is due for the new Delaware Open early closing series for all 2- and 3-year-olds of both gaits and sexes. This new series will replace the New Century Series that was limited to Ohio sired horses. Each event is expected to be raced for $8,000 (est).

A payment of $200 is due for each of the eight Ohio Breeders Championships.

All of the Delaware Open Series and Ohio Breeders Championships will be raced during Grand Circuit week (September 18-September 22).

WEG stakes reminder

Toronto, ON — Woodbine Entertainment Group would like to remind all owners, horsemen and horsewomen, that Friday, April 15, is the deadline for sustaining payments that are due for the circuit’s major stakes events.

Champion of Champions sustaining payments due April 15

Toledo, OH — Sustaining payments for the 2011 Champion of Champions at Raceway Park are due postmarked no later than April 15, 2011.

The fee is $100 per horse.

Tioga Downs Late Closer nominations due April 15

Nichols, NYTioga Downs’ 2011 live racing season will begin on Saturday, May 7, and brings with it the annual slate of Late Closing events. The Tioga series’ are the only events available in the region that are restricted to 3-year-olds.

Pacing (the Kenneth J) and trotting (the Morrisville College Sale) colts kick things off on opening weekend. They are to be followed by events for their distaff counterparts one week later. All finals for the sophomores are estimated at $25,000.

Another round begins in early June, addressing the more accomplished 3- to 5-year-olds. New this year are separate events for fillies and mares. The finals for these events are listed at $35,000 (est.).

NJSS payments due April 15

Trenton, NJApril 15 is last chance for New Jersey-sired 2-year-old and 3-year-old pacers and trotters to be kept eligible to all 2011 New Jersey Sire Stakes pari-mutuel racing programs.

The NJSS Premier Division is scheduled to begin in May at the Meadowlands and the Green Acres Division in August at Freehold Raceway.

NJSS Executive Secretary Chris Castens reminds horse owners that the April 15 second sustaining payments this year have been reduced to $500 for both 2- and 3-year-olds. Last year the Premier Division fee was $550 for 2-year-olds and $650 for 3-year-olds. Also due are $150 Green Acres Division payments for 2-and 3-year-olds. The second sustaining payments must be made in order to keep horses eligible for all 2011 NJSS races.

Castens also urges horse owners to use certified mail and notes that no billing notices will be sent and no late payments will be accepted. Checks should be made payable in U.S. funds to NJSS, P.O. Box 330, Trenton, NJ 08625.

NYSS payments due April 15

Albany, NYThe New York Sire Stakes officials remind horsemen that sustaining payments are due April 15. These payments are required to remain eligible to race in the 2011 NYSS season.

Checks or money orders must be in U.S. funds, postmarked by April 15, and made payable to the Agriculture & New York State Horse Breeding Development Fund. Mail to 90 State Street, Suite 809, Albany, NY 12207.

The NYSS 2011 April payments are per horse and are as follows:

Two-Year-Old Payments
Sire Stakes: $350
State Fair: $200
County Fair: $75

Three-Year-Old Payments
Sire Stakes: $450
State Fair: $250 (Fillies)
State Fair: $350 (Colts)
County Fair: $75
