Lawrence Cooper, 71, dies

Columbus, OH — Lawrence E. Cooper, 71, died Feb. 23, 2012, at his home in St. Louis, Mo.

Mr. Cooper was a driver/trainer on the Western New York circuit from 1976-1985, winning 74 races. Some of his better horses included Time O’Trial and Flyin Glennbrooke.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Barbara (Minster); daughter, Julia Nicholas; son-in-law, Sam Nicholas: daughter-in-law, Lynn Lowrey; grandsons, Scott Cooper and Joshua Jackson; brothers, James (Teresa), David and Kenneth (Karen); sisters, Patricia (Mark) Miles and Barbara (Earl) Cooper; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by a son, Steven Scott.
