Lease On Life dies at age 15

by Larry J. Smith, DVM

Berne, IN — Lease On Life p,6,1:48.1, the fastest stallion to stand in Indiana and sire of multiple stakes champions, was euthanized during an acute irreversible colic at Hickory Ridge Farm in Berne, Indiana.

As a racehorse, the son of Life Sign-Lady Joanna campaigned for five years (1997-2001) and won 18 of his 97 starts, with earnings of $290,136.

Lease On Life had 179 registered foals as a stallion, with 126 starters, 65 in 2:00, and his offspring earned more than $4 million.

He was a very well mannered stallion, a pleasure to be around and always exhibited his class. He will be greatly missed.
