Freehold, NJ — When the hardback version of Crazy Good, the biography of Dan Patch by former Sports Illustrated editor Charles Leerhsen was released last year, he did readings and signings from Maine to Indiana, Toronto to Lexington. With the release of the paperback on June 2, Leerhsen will once again be available for readings and signings. To inquire about a reading/signing, contact Ellen Harvey at HRCNews@ustrotting.com or call 732.780.3700.

The 2008 hardback was a strong seller, prompting the decision to release a $16 paperback edition. Simon and Schuster has also contracted with Leerhsen to write a book on the controversial first Indianapolis 500, to be published prior to the centennial of that race in 2011.

Crazy Good: The True Story of Dan Patch, the Most Famous Horse in America, was positively reviewed in USA Today, Newsweek, Entertainment Weekly, The Wall Street Journal, Boston Globe, Cleveland Plain Dealer and other major news outlets.

Newsweek characterized Leerhsen’s book as, “A terrific look at a legendary if now forgotten equine superstar named Dan Patch. Leerhsen does for early 20th-century American harness racing what Laura Hillenbrand’s Seabiscuit did for Depression-era Thoroughbred racing.”

Leerhsen will do a reading and signing to commemorate the paperback release at The Book Court, 163 Court Street, Brooklyn, New York at 7:00 p.m. June 4.
