Lexi B reasserts in stretch, wins again in Meadows series

Washington, PA — Passed entering the final turn, Lexi B dug deep, reasserted in the lane and captured her second straight leg in Thursday’s (April 18) Margaret Provost Memorial Trot at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows. Skyline Seashell took the other $12,500 second-leg split in the series for 3-year-old trotting fillies.

Hammered down to 1-5, Lexi B controlled the fractions through three-quarters only to find Daylights Daughter moving ambitiously first over from third and poking her head in front. Ronnie Wrenn Jr. asked Lexi B for more, and the daughter of Southwind Frank-Sand Lavender-Blu responded by retaking the lead and downing the rallying Ciao Time by 2-1/4 lengths in a career-best 1:56.2. Daylights Daughter finished third.

Skyline Seashell found herself away last as the 4-5 favorite in a four-horse field in the other division, but her driver, Mike Wilder, wanted none of that. He moved her to the point at the quarter, and the daughter of Father Patrick-Fate Smiled easily held off the first-over bid of Whiskey’d My Way, downing her by three-quarters of a length in 1:57.2 to equal her lifetime mark. Ann’s Frank completed the ticket.

Dan Altmeyer conditions Skyline Seashell for Diamond Club Racing, Anthony Capone Jr., Mark Capone and David Wills.

Dave Palone piloted three winners on the 13-race card.

Friday’s (April 19) program at The Meadows features the $25,000 second leg of the Terry Altmeyer Memorial Trot for 3-year-old male trotters. On the wagering front, the card offers a $556.77 carryover in the Lucky7 (races 3-9). First post is 12:45 p.m.
