LG’s Reed O Wen wins DSBF prep

Harrington, DE – Nanticoke Racing’s LG’s Reed O Wen ($2.80, Jim Morand) won his second straight race in 2:02.1 in preparation for upcoming 2-year-old Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) trotting stakes action Wednesday (Sept. 15) at Harrington Raceway.

The Anders Bluestone gelding assumed command from rough gaited leader Wolfpack Russ, who broke stride, and opened up a six-length win in the $8,500 DSBF Eligible event for 2-year-old trotters. Rivers (Corey Callahan) trotted well late to finish second while Spooky Punk (Victor Kirby) was third. Trained by Les Givens, LG’s Reed O Wen improved to two-for-three in his career and will be one to watch in next Wednesday’s (September 22) DSBF $20,000 eliminations.

DSBF action gets underway Monday (September 20) with the pacing colts on Bobby Quillen Memorial Pace night, while the pacing fillies battle Tuesday.

Elizabeth and Bret Brittingham’s Need Luck N ($9.20, Bret Brittingham) won the overnight feature ($3.60) in an $11,000 conditioned trot for trainer Don Brittingham. The same connections later teamed up for a win with Big Secret ($4).
