Lightning storm cuts Plainridge card short

by Tim Bojarski, for the Standardbred Owners of Massachusetts

Plainville, MA — A heavy lighting storm that brought torrents of rain just after the ninth race caused a power outage and unsafe racing conditions that prompted the cancellation of the tenth and final race of the card at Plainridge Park on Thursday (Sept. 6).

The tenth race had a Wicked Hi-5 Pentafecta carryover of $9,548. But due to the cancellation, it will now be carried over to Monday (Sept. 10) when live racing resumes at Plainridge Park at 2 p.m.
