Local charities and Indiana racetrack casinos team up for holidays

Shelbyville and Anderson, IN — Local charities are teaming up with Indiana Grand Racing & Casino in Shelbyville and Hoosier Park Racing & Casino in Anderson to collect toys and cash donations during the holiday season.

Through multiple charitable events, both properties are encouraging guests to make cash and toy donations to benefit those in need in the Shelby and Madison County areas.

Indiana Grand and Hoosier Park are hosting charity slot tournaments where guests can compete for thousands of dollars in cash prizes. Guests can enter the tournaments by donating a new, unwrapped children’s toy or a minimum cash donation of $10. All proceeds collected from each property’s slot tournament will benefit local children’s charitable organizations, toy drives, and area non-profits.

Combined, both Indiana Grand and Hoosier Park anticipate collecting more than 2,000 toys and upwards of $15,000 in cash donations throughout the months of November and December.

The slot tournaments are open to all those who contribute. Once entered, participants will compete for the highest score in a cashless slot tournament — meaning the designated group of slot machines will be placed in a free-play tournament mode that requires no cash to be wagered.

Each property’s slot tournament details are as follows:

  • Indiana Grand Racing & Casino
Tournaments will be held Tuesday (Dec. 9 and 16) from 3-6 p.m. each day.
  • Registration each day will be held from 2:30 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.

  • A total of $15,000 in cash and prizes will be awarded to the winners.

In addition to the slot tournament, guests can also participate in Hoosier Park’s annual Gift & Game event every Tuesday through Thursday through Dec. 25. Guests will receive $10 in casino cash with each $10 donation made through Club Centaur. The cash donations will be added to the donations collected from the slot tournaments to benefit local charities during the holiday season. Guests are limited to one Gift & Game donation per gaming day.

An additional Indiana Grand toy drive to benefit the Shelby County Toys for Tots organization began on Tuesday (Nov. 11), with the last of three donation days taking place Tuesday (Dec. 2) from 2-8 p.m. Guests can donate up to three unwrapped toys valued at $10 each to receive $10 in casino cash per donation.
