Long Life coasts to victory in the featured $6,400 conditioned/claiming pace at Pompano Park on Wednesday.

Guided from post one by Anthony Napolitano, Long Life outfought an aggressively driven NF Independence (Bruce Ranger) to take the early lead in the Wednesday feature, showing the way through fractions of :27.2, :56.4 and 1:25.

Long Life entered the stretch with a 1-1/2 length advantage, and with one shake of the reins the son of Lease On Life opened up on his overmatched rivals, coasting clear by 3-1/4 lengths at the wire.

Long Life returned $4.60, $3.20 and $2.40 for the victory. NF Independence brought in $3.00 and $2.20 for second, while Ludi Christy (Kevin Wallis) paid $2.20 for third.

Owned and trained by Richard Macomber, Long Life has gotten his picture taken three times in 22 outings this season. Wednesday’s race marked the gelding’s first start outside of the Hoosier State.

Racing resumes at Pompano Park on Friday (November 9) with a 7:25 p.m. post time for an 11-race card that is headlined by the $14,000 Fillies and Mares Open Handicap Pace, which has attracted a contentious field of eight.
