Lord Terror chalks up 1:51.4 win in Dover feature

Dover, DE — Lord Terror moved strongly on the final turn and sped away from eight rivals to score a 1:51.4 victory in the $10,500 male claiming allowance pace at Dover Downs on Sunday (Jan. 12).

Lord Terror was a 1:51.4 winner on Sunday at Dover.

Driven by Vic Kirby, Lord Terror made his first appearance of the New Year a successful one for trainer Eric Ell and owner Bill Emmons. The Western Terror-Cheryl Hanover gelding was all alone at the finish for his third win of the meet and 20th career victory, moving his earnings to $509,538 lifetime. Bettor’s Arena (Ross Wolfenden) was runner-up with Its Outta Here (Ron Pierce) third.

Broadies Song, who was last approaching the three-quarters, moved four-wide around the last turn and pulled away to victory in 1:53 to win the top conditioned pace of the day. It was the first start since last November for the Camluck-Hawaiian Dancer gelding driven by Chris Page for trainer Josh Green and owners Kathleen Wyatt, Dorothy Parker and JJ&M Stable. Caviart Tyler (Jonathan Roberts) finished second. Woodstock Hanover was scratched.

After five straight second-place finishes, Art Brewer’s Make It Brief (George Dennis) ended the streak with a 1:55.3 win in a $4,500 Delaware claiming pace.

Corey Callahan and Ross Wolfenden each had driving triples. Trainer and co-owners Art Stafford and Andrew Stafford had two wins each, while pacers Roadside Delight and Cams Art recorded their third straight wins during the program.
